About Ricardo Parreira
Ricardo Parreira is one of today's great guitarists. He was born in a family connected to the Portuguese guitar: António Parreira's son and Paulo Parreira's brother, both reference players in the Fado world.
Ricardo has been making a very eclectic career both in the fado area and in the Portuguese musical universe.
In his discography there are two albums under his own name. His debut album Nas Veias de Uma Guitarra (In the veins of a guitar) is a tribute to the master Fernando Alvim, in which Ricardo plays side by side with the master himself. The album was considered by critics as one of the most important documents on the great composers of the history of the Portuguese guitar in recent years.
His second album, Cancionário, in turn, is an approach to traditional and popular Portuguese music.
His main influences are divided between the great guitarists of Lisbon: from Armandinho to José Nunes, from Francisco Carvalhinho to Jaime Santos, and, in a more universal genre, Artur and Carlos Paredes, Pedro Caldeira Cabral and Ricardo Rocha.
Recently, Ricardo Parreira has performed nationally and internationally with the most varied projects and artists, such as Helder Moutinho, Gisela João, Mísia, JP Simões, Marco Oliveira, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, among many others.
